ASTERMET G-3 tablet is a combination of two medicines used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. Glimepiride works by stimulating beta cells in the pancreas, increasing the release of insulin hormone. Metformin reduces sugar production by cells in the liver and delays sugar absorption from the intestines.

Metformin is in a sustained-release form that releases the drug in smaller portions over a longer duration of time. Both ingredients increase the insulin sensitivity of the body, allowing the cells of the body to use blood sugar more effectively, thus reducing blood glucose levels.
